Telluride – Unmatched in North America
Stashed among the highest concentration of 13,000 and 14,000 foot peaks in North America, Telluride’s spectacular scenery is undeniably some of the most beautiful in the Rockies. Historic buildings, quaint bakeries and local watering holes blend with luxury hotels, five-star restaurants, sophisticated shops and beautiful spas. Telluride’s free gondola creates a ski-in/ski-out town, and the open and friendly locals welcome all to this unique and unmatched mountain destination.
This year, Telluride continues terrain expansion with the opening of Gold Hill Chutes 2-5. Revelation Bowl opened in 2008-09 as the biggest story in ski country, along with Gold Hill 1. All told, the resort has expanded by more than 400 acres over the past three seasons, giving the resort a vertical drop of 4,425 feet, with 3,845 vertical feet lift-served – one of the highest in North America.

Telluride will also be the new home for World Cup competition in snowboarding as the 2009-2010 Visa U.S. Snowboardcross Cup hits the Rocky Mountains Dec. 17-20. Telluride will be the sole U.S. stop of the LG FIS Snowboard World Cup and will feature an SBX (snowboardcross), PGS (parallel giant slalom) and the newly added Team Snowboardcross competition during what will be the second in a series of five Olympic qualification events.
With some of the best non-stop resort access in the U.S., plus a redesigned airport, Telluride is easier to get to than ever. Two new hotels, Capella and lumière have just garnered features in the 2009 Elite Traveler Top 101 Suites of the world. The combination of awe-inspiring views, world-class terrain, spectacular snow, an easy going town and a hassle-free destination, truly defines Telluride as unmatched in North America.
