Bears (5-6 Years)

Morris the Bear, our 5-6 year old mascot, is up for new adventures and is always looking to “explore the unknown”.  Just like Morris, the Bears are ready to ski and play all day and find all the coolest spots on the mountain!

Registration: 8:00am to 5:00pm daily
Check-in: 9:15am to 9:45am
Group assignment: 9:45am to 10:00am
Lesson: 10:00am to 3:00pm (nutritious lunch break mid-day)
Pick-up: 3:00pm – 3:30pm

First-time, never ever beginner

Skis straight down a slight incline; working on stopping and gliding in a wedge (pizza!)

Stops and glides in a wedge on the Magic Carpet incline; working on turning and getting up on their own

Controls speed and turn left and right on Magic Carpet incline; working on linking turns

Makes different size pizzas for different terrain and is exploring all green terrain; working on parallel (French fries!) across the hill.

Uses a wedge to make the turn, then parallel in-between the turns on all green runs; working on stopping across hill.

For Parents

Registration process

• Our Ski School sales office opens at 8am and closes at 5pm daily.  Come early to avoid waiting.  A sales associate will walk you through the registration process to make sure you fill out all necessary documents and will also process your payment.  (register online before your vacation to avoid this step all together and receive a online booking discount)

What happens at check in once I’ve registered?

• Once you have registered and have your child’s rental equipment, you may check your child in between 9:15am and 9:45am.
• All never-ever 5 and 6 year olds check-in inside the Children’s Ski School
• All Level 2 and above 5 and 6 year olds meet outside on the snow at the Magic Carpet, located next to the Mountain Village Gondola Station
• At check-in, your child will meet one of our enthusiastic instructors who will ask you about your child’s skiing experience as well as any special needs or considerations.

Rest of the day

• After the check-in process, our instructors will further evaluate your child’s skiing ability so that they are placed in the most appropriate group.
• Lunch is served either in the Children’s Center or at our Children’s Ski School lunch facility attached to Big Billies and includes a daily menu that is nutritious and energy-packed!

Instructors and their groups are back at the base of Chair lift 4 and waiting at the appropriate Blue Level flag by 3pm for pick-up and to speak with you about how your son or daughter’s day went.

  • Sunscreen applied – the sun is intense in Telluride at 10,000ft!
