Mountain Village, CO – June 26, 2009 – The Telluride Ski Resort is seeking to build an outdoor amphitheatre to be used for concerts and performing arts on its Misty Maiden ski run. The proposed venue for outdoor performances would accommodate up to 5,000 people and generate revenue and traffic in the summer months to Mountain Village and the Telluride destination. The public is invited to attend a site-walk at 10:00 am on July 3rd. Attendees will meet in Heritage Plaza near the base of Lift 4. The walk will be led by Vice President of Telluride Ski & Golf Company, Jeff Proteau, who will offer an overview of the project. “This is an opportunity to give folks in the community a better visual understanding of the proposed amphitheatre layout and orientation,” said Proteau. The amphitheatre would host summer and fall concerts, festivals, and a variety of events in a natural setting with views across the Mountain Village core area. The amphitheatre would offer both daytime and nighttime performances. The venue would be constructed on lower Misty Maiden ski run, just above Heritage Plaza in Mountain Village. The run would be terraced according to existing contours, and park grass developed and maintained. A concrete foundation for the stage area would be installed with electrical service, as well as graded areas for concession, portable bathrooms and VIP seating. Proposed events would be scheduled to end no later than midnight, and the festival area will be secured with event fence. Spread over approximately three acres, the space would allow for patrons to set blankets on the ground and have enough area to lay back and relax and not have to stand in a crowd. This type of venue has been utilized at the base of Deer Valley Ski Resort with proven success. -www.tellurideskiresort.com-
