(Dec 22, 2009) - Decorated with colorful ornaments, white lights, fresh garland and red bows, Telluride sets the stage for a picture perfect holiday vacation. From skiing with Santa to a torchlight parade to festive parties, Telluride offers an action-packed line up of holiday events for the whole family. Christmas Eve festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with the Torchlight Parade into the Town of Telluride. Almost 100 Telluride Ski Resort staff will illuminate the slopes as they carry torches down Coonskin and Telluride Trail. The torchlight tradition began in 1972 in celebration of the opening of the Telluride Ski Resort. Pacific Street, Main Street and Columbia Ave are great places to view the glowing parade. Santa redirects his reindeer and flies to the Telluride Ski Resort for his annual ski vacation. On Christmas Day, Santa carves up the slopes after a long night of fulfilling Christmas wishes and will be at Gorrono Ranch from noon until 2 pm for photos with all the good girls and boys. Don’t forget to tune in to NBC Sports Sunday, Dec. 27 at 11 am MST for the broadcast of the 2009 VISA Snowboardcross World Cup. The event witnessed live here last week will be broadcast across the nation Sunday morning. Tune in to see your favorite resort featured on the road to the 2010 Winter Olympics. Sunday, Dec. 27 will also be the date for the last of the Vision 2025 meetings for the year. Telluride Ski Resort CEO Dave Riley will be hosting a discussion of Telluride’s future at Capella Hotel Sunday evening from 4 pm – 6 pm with a beer and wine reception to follow.
