    TELLURIDE SAFETY DAY THIS WEEK
Telski and Med Center Team up to Host Sat. Jan 16 on Mountain Event

TELLURIDE, CO. (Jan. 12, 2010) – Telluride Ski Resort and the Telluride Medical Center are teaming up to host Safety Day on the mountain Saturday, January 16 from 11-3 p.m. In conjunction with NSAA Safety Week, Jan. 16-22, Telluride’s Safety Day was coordinated by and will be run by Telski employees and Telluride Medical Center – including Dr. Sharon Grundy and Dr. Kent Gaylord.

“Safety Day is a great way to educate all ages on the importance of safety on the mountain,” said Janice Todd. “We really appreciate working with the Medical center on this important day, as both of our organizations main priority is health and safety.”

This event, similar to the Sustainable Slopes Day held a few years back, will have stations set up on the mountain promoting on-mountain and skier safety. The stations will be educating skiers on hydration, helmet awareness, the benefits of stretching and sunscreen and ACL awareness along with terrain park safety and slope safety/skier responsibility code.

Participants in the event will receive passports and as they visit a station and learn about each topic, their passport will be stamped. At the end of the day a party with beverages and free pizza will be held at Crazy Elk as each completed passport will be entered into a drawing for an array of prizes, including a 2010/2011 season pass.

Station locations and their respective topics will be:

#1 – Base of Lift 4 – Hydration, Sun Protection and Nutrition

#2 – Ski School Training Center (Children’s Ski School) – Skier Responsibility Code

#3 – Top of Lift 5 (top of Polar Queen) – Helmet Awareness & Head Injuries

    #4 – Top of Lift 7 – Stretching

#5 – Gorrono Ranch – Knees, ACL Awareness & Wrists

#6 (Bonus Station) – Terrain Park Yurt – Smart Style, Terrain Park Safety
