Reflecting a European skiing experience, the Telluride Ski Resort installed a new bridge and staircase to where Gold Hill ridge meets the left shoulder of spectacular Palmyra Peak in the spring of 2010. Heliqwest, a helicopter company based out of Canada, airlifted two steel staircases and a bridge over the ski resort to its final resting place – the span between Gold Hill Chutes 8 and 9. The two sets of stairs measure 48 and 54 feet, respectively. The bridge measures 24 feet in length. All three components measure 30 inches wide, feature hand railings on both sides and a steel grated walking surface. Together, the stairway and bridge combine make up 126 linear feet giving access from Gold Hill 8 to chutes 9 & 10.
Following the spectacular additions of Palmyra Peak and Revelation Bowl, Telluride Ski Resort is undertaking an aggressive clean up program this summer of long skied tree areas. Old favorites and new tree runs alike will be ready for this winter’s powder hounds. Areas include: Skier's left of Silver Tip and skier's right of Henry's Run on Lift 5; Skier's right of Stella and skier's left of Upper Magnolia on Lift 12; Skier's right of Log Pile and Skier's left of Joint Point on Lift 9.
