FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Telluride, Colorado (July 20, 2012) – Where the quality of life is measured by the beauty of the slopes, the exquisite cuisine, the tranquility of the surrounding mountains and the size of the smile of the person taking it all in. Telluride boasts an intoxicating lifestyle, the pinnacle of living - The Good Life.
Telluride offers an experience Unmatched in North America. From legendary terrain including Revelation Bowl, The Plunge, Palmyra Peak and See Forever, to some of the finest and most unique mountain dining experiences in the world, as well as the most elegant bathrooms in ski country, Telluride is sure to exceed expectations. This destination flawlessly combines a relaxed culture with exceptional service, world class hotels, restaurants and spas. Telluride is the place to visit this winter.
Telluride Ski Resort has established itself as the Culinary Mountain Resort of North America. The combination of exquisite and unique dining experiences creates a culture where skiers and riders look forward to lunch and après, planning their ski day accordingly. More than ever our guests are skiing to eat, rather than eating to ski. The stunning views are outmatched only by the inspiring culinary choices.
Telluride’s newest edition will be the renovation to Big Billie’s Restaurant at the bottom of The Meadows. A soda fountain style bar will be put into the restaurant adding a feel more oriented towards family. It will be a great place for families to take breaks, children’s ski school lunches or non-skiing family and friends to meet and interact with young skiers and beginners alike.
Other fresh beginnings in the culinary endeavors of Telluride Ski Resort is the beautiful Bon Vivant, an outdoor restaurant and sundeck located at the top of the Polar Queen Express (Chair 5), which opened January of 2012. With a 40 foot motorized umbrella overhead and seating for 75 people, Bon Vivant indulges visitors with country French fare including Duck Confit & Elk Sausage Casoulet, Lobster Gnocchi and pastry topped Alpine Wild Mushroom Soup. The cuisine paired with the outdoor setting and views of 13,320’ Palmyra Peak and Gold Hill gives skiers and riders a reason to reenergize at this centrally located must-stop spot.
Also new in 2012, the warm and historically decorated Tomboy Tavern opened slopeside in Mountain Village. Tomboy is host to over 30 handcrafted Colorado beers on tap to compliment an accessible and comfort themed menu. Options include a delectable schnitzel sandwich, warming elk chili or a light couscous salad topped with grilled trout. A socially friendly horseshoe shaped bar that evokes the mining history of Telluride anchors Tomboy inside, while outside the patio, circular bar and 20 foot yellow umbrella are the perfect gathering spot to watch skiers make their way down the slopes for après.
Telluride’s flagship restaurant, Allred’s, greets guests with the most unique dining atmosphere, exquisite menu and stunning views in the Rockies. The attention to exceptional service and detail makes an evening at Allred's an event of culinary delight. Fresh farm to table cuisine is paired with an extensive wine list from around the world, offering hundreds of the finest labels.
Alpino Vino continues to offer a one-of-a-kind mountain dining experience as North America’s highest wine bar & restaurant. The access, atmosphere and cuisine are reminiscent of esteemed European chalets. A beautiful and simple lunch menu is easily paired with selected flights of wine chosen from over 150 bottles kept at this mountain chalet. An exclusive five-course dinner is offered select evenings at Alpino Vino, where guests are greeted at the top of the Gondola by snowcoach and transported up the mountain for an intimate dining experience. Only 26 seats are available per night and guests must be over 21.
Also new this year will be two new warming hut yurts and restrooms at the top of Sunshine Express (Lift 10) and the bottom of Ute Park (Lift 11). These two lifts are spectacular learning and teaching areas. With the addition of a comfortable place to stop and rest for children and adult ski school, along with restrooms, will help in the utilization of the terrain.
Telluride will once again be the sole US host for FIS World Cup Snowboardcross, and for the first time in history, will be adding FIS World Cup Skiercross to create a combined event. This year’s action will begin December 13 with the Skiercross, followed by Snowboardcross December 14-15, both of which are amazing spectator events. Teams from around the world will descend on Telluride to start their march towards the 2014 Sotchi Olympics.
Telluride Ski Resort has opened three new retail stores in Mountain Village creating what has now been nicknamed ‘The Mountain Village Fashion District’. The District offers an array of stores and styles for men and women. Located next to one of Telluride’s finest boutiques, Swanky Buckle, Mountain Standard Time Telluride offers everything from Swiss watches to sunglasses and designer bags and jewelry. Alpenglow Beauty is the first and only full-service beauty boutique in the Telluride region and specializes in cosmetics, skin and hair care products and make-up application. Heritage Apparel provides a chic combination of stylish basics and designer labels for both men and women.
Telluride Ski Resort recently completed an operational & energy analysis on existing snowmaking equipment. As a result of this study, Telluride received a snowmaking grant through NSAA’s Sustainable Slopes Program to include 5 high-efficiency snowmaking guns. These new guns will be a great addition to the 10 high-efficiency guns purchased last season by Telluride Ski Resort. The grant also included a consultation from a sustainability engineering firm that offered a utility analysis and customized on-site energy audit during the 2012 summer. The resulting improved snowmaking, along with three new Piston Bullies, will enhance the grooming and skiing experience for the 2012-13 ski season.
Telluride’s continued improvements, legendary terrain and scenery, culinary excellence, free gondola, lack of lift lines, exceptional guest service and luxurious hotels and amenities make this destination Unmatched. We invite you to come out and experience The Good Life!
