The Telluride Adventure Center, located in Mountain Village, offers an abundant selection of kids camps and summer adventures for all ages. Space is limited so advance reservations are recommended!

GENERAL DETAILS

Unless stated otherwise, all days of camp have check-in from 9 to 9:30 am and a pick up time of 3:30 pm. Pick up and drop off for all camps will be taking place inside the Mountain Sales lobby and Children’s Center located in the Mountain Village beneath Gondola Plaza.
Each camper must come prepared each day with the following:

- Rain Jacket or Rain Suit
- Extra long-sleeved layer recommended on cold and rainy days
- Reuseable Water Bottle
- Lunch
- Sunglasses or Hat
- Proper hiking boots or sneakers that can get wet, muddy, & dirty
- Extra pair of socks
- Backpack to carry all of their belongings (We prefer backpacks NOT to be shared among siblings)
- On Water Wednesday: Bathing suit, towel, and water shoes (Crocs and flip-flops are not acceptable footwear for Water Wednesday activities)
- Disclaimer: Most of the packing list equipment is available for purchase at the Kids Camp check-in desk. However, children who arrive with inadequate footwear for the program of the day will not be allowed to participate in camp.
PIKAS
Ages 5 – 7

Join us for an all-day Adventure at Kids Camp! Groups spend all day outside hiking and playing games while learning about the unique ecosystem we have here in the Southwestern San Juan Mountains. The planned activities change for any given day, but include a variety of different themes and activities such as Fungus Among-us Mushroom Mondays, Wilderness Survival, Water Wednesday, Wilderness Olympics, Capture the Flag Friday, and much, much more!

BEAVERS
Ages 8 – 10

This is our new intermediate aged camp group for children ages 8 – 10! Spend the week outside on medium difficulty adventures playing games and learning about local wildlife, outdoor adventure skills, local history, water science, and San Juan Mountain ecology.

A more challenging day of adventure for our older campers. In a full day of ecoXploration, your kids could learn to navigate with just a map and compass, build a survival fort, learn about the geology and plant life of Telluride, or hike to a waterfall.

CAPTURE THE FLAG FRIDAY

A full day of Capture the Flag fun down in Telluride Town Park. Older kids play all day, while the younger group (ages 5-7) do a mini half day of camp and join the older kids after lunch. Takes place every Friday!

KIDS ADVENTURE RACE

Our Annual Kids Adventure Race, inspired by the NBC hit series ‘Amazing Race’, the children join up with a team and counselor to race around Mountain Village and Telluride competing in a multitude of group challenges and activities.
The race concludes with an awards ceremony and pizza party in the Children’s Center at the end of the day.

FISHING 101
Ages 8 – 14

Join us on this 2 day program where we teach the kids the ins and outs of basic rod and reel fishing. Start off by learning the various knots and bait choices on some still water the first day, and then go on a stream-walking fishing adventure on day 2!

ARCHERY 101
Ages 9 – 14

Experience a day in the woods learning about one of the most important tools in human history. We will go over safety, the history and technique behind shooting a bow and arrow. After the basics are covered, we will have target practice and then enter our 3D archery range. We want the campers to know how important learning safety around a bow is. We also build confidence and patience with this hobby.

MOUNTAIN BIKING 101
Ages 9 – 14

Go out for a day of learning the basics of mountain biking on the Beautiful Telluride Valley floor. This camp is for novice riders who want to learn the basics of mountain biking and who just want to have a fun day on the bike at camp. Children must come with their own bikes or rent one from Telluride Sports or any other rental outfitter in Mountain Village.

Minimum Requirements: Bicycles must have 20″ diameter wheels or larger, knobby tires, front and rear handbrakes, and protective equipment including helmet, sunglasses and gloves.
Immunization Requirements
A new Colorado state law has gone in effect this summer which requires Telluride Kids Camp to collect the following for each child entering prior to or on the first day of admission to camp:
- Documentation of school-required immunization status
OR - Certificate of Medical or Nonmedical Exemption
Up-to-date school-required immunizations must be documented as specified on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Certificate of Immunization (attached), or an approved alternate Certificate of Immunization. These documents may either be provided as a hard copy at the first day of check-in, or otherwise emailed to immunizations@

Unfortunately, if neither an official Form of Immunization Status nor Certificate of Exemption is provided, we will be unable to allow the child or children to attend camp until we receive this documentation. I know this is an extra step that has not been required to register for Kids Camp in the past, but we must abide by this law for both the children’s safety and to maintain our Childcare License through the state of Colorado. Please see below for the exact wording on this rule as written in our licensing guidelines. School-age Childcare Program License Rule 2.512.A.1.b: “At the time of enrollment, the parent(s)/guardian(s) must provide for each child entering the center: Documentation of school-required immunization status or Certificate of Medical or Nonmedical Exemption, is required by the Colorado Board of Health. Up-to-date school-required immunizations must be documented as specified on the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment Certificate of Immunization or on an “approved alternate” Certificate of Immunization, defined in Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment regulation at 6 CCR 1009-2:VI(A)”
Medications
Per our Medical Administration Policies and Procedures, any child who has any medications that may possibly need to be taken or administered by staff must have the following forms filled out by a medical practitioner prior to their first day of camp.
- There must be a permission form filled out for each individual medication. For Anaphylaxis and Asthma Medications, please be sure to have the additional specific forms filed out for those emergency care plans, (see link to forms below.)
- Any medication must be handed from the parent or guardian in its original container. Children who have been granted permission to sign themselves in or out are not permitted to bring their medication in themselves.
- For any prescription medication, they must be in the original container labeled with the following information:

- Dosage
- Expiration Date

Put your mining and precious stone identification skills to work with this all ages activity! Participants receive a bag of pay dirt, a sluice box, gem identification card, and access to the multi-level sluice. This is a dirt & water driven activity – so miners prepare to get your hands dirty and feet wet!
TOP-A-TEN YURT TRIPS
It’s your dream, we’re just in it.
Join our experienced chef/mountain guide Eric Thoren on a worry-free stay in our private yurt located on the top of the mountain. Take your pick from a multitude of homemade gourmet cuisine options and sit back and soak in the mountain scenery as your appetizers and meals are prepared. Eric will happily guide you on a hike suitable to your needs, from a leisurely stroll along one of the many hiking trails to summiting Bald Mountain if you’re feeling extra adventurous. As the night draws to an end, enjoy an epic sunset and soak in the starry night sky far away from any light pollution. Once utter exhaustion has set in, you can cozy up in our heated yurt, all bundled up in our provided mummy bags on cots or an air mattress. Wake up to warm coffee and a continental breakfast, then it’s your choice whether to hike down the mountain or be chauffeured back down by your guide(s).
What to Bring: All food and camping gear is provided on the trip. You are required to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the variable weather conditions the mountain experiences, as well as your own pillow for sleeping. Alcoholic beverages are not provided, but you are certainly welcome to supply your own libations.

Nature Center
The Nature Center is closed for the Summer Season.
At the San Sophia Nature Center you’ll find information on hiking and biking trails, weather expectations and local ecosystems to help prepare you for your adventures in the area. Interpretive displays include: geology, animal tracks and signs, pelts and skulls, Native American history & water use.
Ranger Talks
Come join our experienced Interpreter at the Nature Center @ 1 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays for an all ages ranger talk of subjects ranging from local wildlife, geology, edible plants, mining history, and much more!
